Social and economic structure of the Domaniç Nefs-i Bozyalak, Karaköy, Saruhanlar, Sarıot willages (1844-1845)

In the of Ottoman Empire, there hed been made a new law to yet a single tax from people according to their commercial income. ?Temettu?at Notebooks? prepared according to the notes taken for determining the real estate, propery and income of people are registered in ?ThePremiership of Ottoman Archives.? ?The Temettu?at Notebooks? gave important information about the socio economic structure of settlements they belong to. The censuses meticulously performed in the provinces in order to determine Ottoman State?s tax sources and its tax payers give us information about the social and economical situation of 19.th century?s Ottoman State.This study aims to investigate social, cultural and economical position of Domaniç Nefs-i Bozyalak, Karaköy, Saruhanlar and Sarıot willages district of the province in 1844-1845 according to income Regoster No 07739, 07737, 07724, 07734. This study is composed of an introducton part and two sections. In the introduction part, a general information about the history of district Domaniç. In the first, we mentioned Ottaman State?s tax system and making the tahrir by giving information about administrative and financial reforms after the period, administrative reform. We gave detailed information about these tahrir including Temettu?at tahrir and Temettu?at notebooks where the records were kept. Also at the end of this section, information on the income Register No. 07739, 07737, 07724, 007734 the major source for our study, comprising the property, lands and taxes of muslim resident in quarters of Domaniç Nefs-i Bozyalak, Karaköy, Saruhanlar and Sarıot willages in 1844-1845 AD which was copied from Head Office of the Premiership Ottoman Archieves.In the second section situation of Nefs-i Bozyalak, Karaköy, Saruhanlar and Sarıot willages in 1844-1845 was evaluated. The study was categorized under 3 headıngs; socio cultural life, farming and husbandry. Under these headings related issues were discussed in detail. We included the Nefs-i Bozyalak, Karaköy, Saruhanlar ve Sarıot?s administrative and social situation, its population, groups of occupations intuitions considering the period, we provided the way for the economical frame coming in the next sections. We mentioned about agriculture and stock-breeding which come first among the economical activites of Domaniç. First of all, we evaluated the land rates on which agricultural activities performed grown crops by table and graphics. Afterwards, we obtained stockbreeding according to its types by classfying. The spread and types tax are explained of Nefs-i Bozyalak, Karaköy, Saruhanlar and Sarıot willages.
