Examining of Halit Ziya Uşakligil and Peyami Safa novels in the context of the period artist and work

Entering into Turkish literature with the Tanzimat period, the novel It's a species that takes its source from life. For a novel to be fully understood, writing time is of great importance. Literature movements of the period and the issues of the period are among the basic elements of the novel while fiction is formed. A novel carries faint traces of its author's time because each novel is written within a certain time frame and cannot become independent from that time. Therefore, in our study, we examined the effect of time on novels. In this context, we dealt with eight novels by Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil, one of the novelists of Servet-i Fünûn, twelve novels by Peyami Safa, one of the novelists of the Republican era. By investigating the concept of time, it has been determined why time is important in the formation of novels. Considering the importance of expanding the field of study, we found it appropriate to choose these two valuable writers with opposite views in their literary understanding. Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil, who wrote novels before the Republic period, and Peyami Safa, who wrote novels after the Republic, were discussed. The most important reason for choosing these two authors is that they were the most powerful novelists of their time. Literature underwent a radical change with the proclamation of the Republic. This change, which deeply affected the society, also affected the authors' understanding of art. The fact that Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil successfully reflected the traces of the pre-Republic literature and Peyami Safa the post-Republic literature on their novels is the most important factor in our handling of these two valuable writers.
