Abstract (EN)

Leadership is regarded as one of the most important and emphasised subject of management studies. Among the leadership approaches, Transformational Leadership appears to be a current subject of interest in recent leadership studies in Turkey. In today's intensely competitive and changing environment, Psychological Empowerment and Organizational Identification which focus on human element, play a key role in the success of the organizations and both are thought to be affected by transformational leadership. The purpose of this study is to address the theoretical framework of Transformational Leadership, Psychological Empowerment and Organizational Identification, and contribute to the extant literature by analyzing the relationships among these variables taking the demographic factors into consideration. To this end a survey research was carried out in public institutions in Nazilli district with the participation of 147 public employees. Data were obtained using a questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS 21 software. According to the results of the analysis there are significant and positive relationships among Transformational Leadership, Psychological Empowerment and Organizational Identification. When gender, age, education, tenure and duration of the relationship with the supervisor are controlled for, Organizational Identification seems to play a mediating role on the relationship between Transformational Leadership and Psychological Empowerment.
