Effects of 5e teaching model enriched with drama techniques towards students' success and attitude:Granular structure of substance and mixtures

The aim of this research is stated to determine the effects of the subject 'Granular Structure Of The Substance And Mixtures' which students will learn by getting supported by drama techniques to their success and attitudes towards Science and Technology Lesson and detect the changes in their opinions occur on this topic at the stage of deepening 5E Teaching Model in seventh grade students ' Science and Technology Class. The research was realised with 40 seventh grade students in a Middle School which takes place in Ünye, the district of the province, Ordu in 2014-2015 education year .Two groups were formed ,control and test. Lessons were taught to control group with 5E Method as it was specified in MEB guidebook and with drama techniques to test group at the step of deepenig 5E Method. In research, quantitative data were gathered with Achievement Test and Science and Tecnology Attitude Scale and qualitative data with semi-structured interviews. The data obtained at the end of these tests were analyzed with SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Science) 16 Program. According to the results, it was found that there is significant difference in favor of test group between the successes in Science and Tecnology Lesson and attitudes towards Science and Tecnology Lesson of the Test Group which teaching supported by drama techniques was applied and the Control Group 5E method depends on guidebook was applied. Also, results of the interview revealed that drama techniques is effective on teaching abstract concept.
