Abstract (EN)

Making profit is the top priority for businesses. While achieving this goal, businesses that have grown sufficiently within national borders, after a while, look for ways to profit from geographical cross-border markets. At this point, their activities will be entrepreneurial activities. In cross-border entrepreneurship activities, the concepts of International Entrepreneurship and Foreign Trade Entrepreneurship come to the fore in the literature. In the study, the differences between these two concepts are discussed in the context of historical construction processes. In this context, the British Empire and the Ottoman Empire were examined as two countries with different internationalization levels and processes in order to access the social and historical codes deep within different internationalization tendencies and activities. Thus, starting from the question of why some countries internationalize early and some countries late, it is aimed to reach the themes that play a decisive role in internationalization. Beyond that, in order to examine the question of why in more depth, it has been researched to what extent the determinative criteria in internationalization are determinative. Since the construction of a social phenomenon is examined, the content analysis method has been used as an effective and indispensable choice in order to reach the data about the researched countries in the study, which is based on an interpretive approach. First, an in-depth literature review was carried out, and then the determined sources were subjected to content analysis. Finally, the themes reached were prioritized with the SWARA method as a Multi-Criteria Decision Making Technique, and the effect levels of the themes were revealed. As a result of an in-depth literature review, the researcher reached 6 themes while reaching the knowledge to be able to code and theme. These; religion, culture, economy, state administration, law and science. Other themes obtained by applying content analysis to the studies determined after that are military structure, geography and social structure. In the order of these themes, which were determined by the SWARA method in line with the opinions of experts, for Britain, respectively, science, economy, state administration, law, geography, military structure, religion, culture and social structure; For the Ottoman Empire, it was concluded that the themes of military structure, geography, state administration, religion, economy, culture, science, social structure and law were effective respectively. In this way, it has been concluded that the internationalization approach that developed in Britain built the foundations of the concept of ınternational entrepreneurship, while the internationalization approach that developed in the Ottoman Empire contributed to the construction of the concept of foreign trade entrepreneurship.
