The effect of expressionism on Turkish art

The economical crises and public conflict among classes were a result of the suppression of the lower classes by a new and strong bourgeois. The repercussions of which directly appeared with the industrial revolution at the end of the 19th century and left a trail of chaos and disappointment. Later on, the suffering caused by First World War had serious world negative effects and bred a feeling of hopelessness for the future among people. Such factors created the necessity for people who express their depression and general mood of melancholy. This is the birth of Expressionism, as an Art Movement and an important vehicle in assisting this release of feelings, came into fruition. Artists with their expressionist works found an opportunity to reflect their economical and political anxiety, inner fear, grief, and mood. Depression as a main problem of psychology and melancholy which means occasionally grief, melancholia and sadness were main reasons of Expressionism. Expressionist artists developed a subjective expression by being away from traditional art perspective and profiting from deformation and abstraction. Portray and figure in Expressionism became the most important vehicle to express the feelings. In Expressionism relation between colour and form strongly comes to the fore and portray and figure explain the psychology with the strongest way of Fine Art. These are the main and effective factors which have roles in formation of Expressionism: Efforts of Modern Art to be away from portraying reality and different formal seeking. In this formal change, African, Arabian and Asian Art even Japanese engravings were sources of inspiration for artists especially Tribal Art and masks were formal factors in formation of Expressionism. German Expressionism carries a banner in the birth and development of Expressionism. "Die Brucke" and " Der Blaue Raiter" groups were first movements. Expresssionism was efficient in some countries like France and Australia and has impressed the artists up until now.
