Abstract (EN)

People with cleft lip and palate may have difficulties associated with many areas especially with articulation and resonance. In addition, they may have different characteristics compared to individuals who have normal development of lip and palate. The current study aimed at developing an evaluation form for children with cleft lip and palate. In accordance with this purpose, an evaluation form containing three subparts was developed. Medical history, oral-peripheral characterictics, and articulation and rezonance characteristics of participants with cleft lip and palate were examined. Results of the study showed that children with cleft lip and palate or a craniofacial syndrome experience some problems due to underlying causes, have spesific peripheral characteristics, and make changes in the place, manner, and voicing characteristics of the phonemes and double articulation.
