Abstract (EN)

ANATOMICAL, PHYSICAL AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OP DUGLAS [Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb) Franco] WOOD SUMMARY In this study, some anatomical, physical and mechanical properties of rapid grown Douglas-fir [Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb) Franco] were investigated. All trees used for experiments were obtained from Maçka, Tonya, Ayancık and ±zmit and samples were then prepared in accordance with the related standarts. Lenght of tracheld, number of tracheid per unit area, dimension of rays, diameter of resin canals and pits, specific gravity, density, the amount of shrinkage and swelling, the width of anual rings, strength properties and hardness were determined as anatomical, physical and mechanical properties respectively. Experiments showed that regional differences affect anatomical properties much more than others. VIII
