The relationship between imamat and divinity in Druzism

Druzeism emerged after the claims of imam and divinity of Hâkim biemrillah, the sixth Fatimid caliph. Druze claimed that Hâkim biemrillah had divine and nasuti characteristics that are inseparable from each other. In this study, the relationship between Hâkim biemrillah's imamate and his divinity was examined. When we examine the historical process of the sect, we see that its tenets were transmitted orally from generation to generation. For this reason, it is necessary to examine the period when Druze teachings began to spread among the people. The aim of this study is to examine how the claim of divinity emerged, whether there is any basis for this claim or what exactly is meant by the claim of divinity, by examining Druze texts or secondary sources. In our opinion, it is of great importance as it is a universal issue that there is no god but Allah and that imams can only be caliphs. In our research, the essence of Hâkim biemrillah's divinity was investigated by examining the connection between his imamate and his divinity. By examining and researching Druze sources, we aim to shed light on the relationship of the imamate with divinity in Druze. This study is a research conducted by making use of many sources, especially Druze treatises. However, since Druze treatises are not available in printed form due to the principle of secrecy, they have been studied mostly by using the works of Druze authors and respected writers who had the opportunity to access these treatises. As a result of our research, it was concluded that Hâkim biemrillah served as imam as the caliph but although he claimed divinity, he didn't have any divine qualities other than human qualities.
