Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate effect of the diet treatment on the degree of depression and eating behavior in overweight/obese people who applied to a low-calorie diet. This study was conducted on 18-50 age group adults, %55.1 total of 127 participants were females and %44,9 total of 127 the participants were males who voluntarily presented, applied to diet treatment in the Nutrition and Diet Service in Gaziantep 25 December Public Hospital between June 2018- October 2018. The participants were divided three groups as normal, overweight and obese according to their body mass index (BMI). BDI ( Beck Depression Inventory) and DEBQ (Dutch Eating Behaviour Questionnaire) tools was applied as pre-test each groups. Then, over weight/obes participants were began the diet treatment. After 28 days, BDI and DEBQ tools was applied again as final test in overweight/ obese groups. The difference between normal, over weight and obese participants and BDI test results were found to be statistically significant (p=,001). The difference between the gender and emotional eating test scores were found to be statistically significant and women emotional eating scores higher than man (p=,002). As age increases emotional eating scores decreases (r=-,363 p=,000). As age increases external eating scores decreases (r=-,371 p=,000). As BDI score increases emotional eating score increases. The difference between BDI scores and emotional eating scores were found to be statistically significant (r=,271 p=,002). Consequently there was statistically significant relationship between as the BMI increases, BDI scores and emotional eating scores increases (p<0,01).
