Effect of green Bayburt stone grain size on strength in stabilization of low plasticity clayey soil with lime

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to stabilize a low plasticity clayey soil by using green Bayburt stone (YBT) waste and lime. Lime used as the primary binder was added at the rate of 6%, and YBT waste used as a pozzolanic additive was added to the natural soil in two different finenesses, respectively, at the rates of 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%. Consistency, sieve analysis, compaction and unconfined compressive strength tests were performed on the prepared specimens. In addition, the microstructure of the specimens was investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction method (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis. As a result of the experiments carried out within the scope of the study, it was determined that the use of YBT wastes in low plasticity clayey soil stabilization by grinding does not have a significant effect on the consistency limits and compaction parameters, but increases the unconfined compressive strength.
