The effect of teaching English with EBA on the academic success of students

The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of teaching English to 10th grade students using EBA on their academic achievement. Pre-test-post-test applications were used with a total of 36 students, 18 in the control group and 18 in the experimental group, all of whom were students at Şehit Muhammet Oğuz Kılınç High School in Antalya province. While traditional English education was given to the control group, the contents developed for the English lesson on EBA were used in the experimental group. An achievement test was used as a data collection tool in the study, and the data obtained from this achievement test were analyzed using the IBM SPSS 22 package statistics program. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that there was a statistically significant difference between the control and experimental groups' post-test achievement scores, as well as a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test achievement scores. The study found no significant difference between pre-test and post-test achievement scores in the control group, but a significant difference between the two tests in the experimental group. This study's data is valuable and significant because it investigates the effect of EBA applications on academic success in the 10th grade English course, which has never been studied before. Due to its impact on academic success, it is recommended to increase the use of EBA and to focus more on it, and to improve the quality of English education, which has become a problem in our country, by improving its contents over time.
