Interprofessional collaboration scale for midwives: a turkish validity and reliability study

Aim: This study was conducted to determine the validity and reliability of the Interprofessional Collaboration Scale for Midwives in Turkish. Materials and Methods: This methodological study included a sample of 370 midwives working in hospitals in Erzurum province and its districts. Data were collected using a "Personal Introduction Form" and the " Interprofessıonal Collaboratıon Scale For Mıdwıves (M-ICS)". In the statistical analysis, descriptive analyses (number, percentage, mean, standard deviation), Cronbach's alpha coefficient, Pearson product-moment analysis, EFA, CFA and varimax principal component analysis were used. Results: The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the scale was determined to be 0.890. The scale, consisting of 8 items, does not contain any reverse-scored items, and a minimum score of 8 and a maximum score of 32 can be obtained. Higher scores indicate increased interprofessional collaboration among midwives. The Bartlett Sphericity Test result for the M-ICS was 1556.058, and the KMO coefficient was found to be 0.898. The established model was found to be statistically significant (p=0.001<0.05), and the sample structure and size used in the analysis were found to be acceptable for EFA. The total variance explained by a single sub-dimension was calculated as 57.027%. The confirmatory factor analysis results showed that the model fit index RMSEA was determined to be 0.054, which is within acceptable limits. The model fit indices CFI=0.988 and NFI=0.980 were found to be within the limits of excellent fit. Conclusions: M-ICS is a valid and reliable measurement tool consisting of 8 items and a single dimension, which measures the level of interprofessional collaboration among midwives.
