Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study was to examine the "Effect of Communication Between Parents and Children on the Formation of Family Structure" within the family, which is the most basic development area of humans who are generally social beings. In this study, which is addressed in terms of communication between parents and their children and their effects on family structure and some socio-demographic components, the relational screening model was used. The Parent-Child Communication Scale (ECİÖ) developed by Kahraman and Taraklı (2016) and the Family Structure Assessment Scale (FSA) developed by Gülerce (1996) were used in the study. The universe of the study was families with children between the ages of 12-18 (parents and children) residing in the Adapazarı center of Sakarya, and the sample was selected with the stratified sampling method and 500 families with children between the ages of 12-18 (parents and children). The "SPSS 27.0" program was used in the analysis of the data obtained in the research. In the analyses, independent t-test, chi-square and anova tests were used. In addition, simple and multiple linear regression, correlation and post-hoc analyses were also performed. When the results of the relationship between communication with the child and family structure were examined in our study; a positive significant relationship was found between being open to sharing and communication, unity, competence and evaluation of family structure; while a negative significant relationship was found between being open to sharing and management and emotional context.
