Examination of the attitudes of the parents to the physical education course (Hakkari province example)

The aim of this study is to examine parental attitudes towards physical education lesson. Scanning model was used in the research. The population of the research is 5th-6th-7th-8th grade students residing in Hakkari province in 2021. The class consists of the parents of the students. The sample group was carried out with the voluntary participation of 161 mothers and 148 fathers, 309 parents in total residing in Hakkari. In the study, "Parental Attitude Scale towards Physical Education Lesson" with 4 factors and 21 items developed by Öncü and Güven (2011) was used. SPSS 24.0 statistical package program was used in the evaluation and analysis of the data in the research, and in addition to descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage and mean value, t-Test and ANOVA tests were used in statistical analysis. As a result of the research, parental attitudes towards physical education lesson in Hakkari province are positively high. When the scores of parental attitudes towards the physical education lesson are examined, the scores of those aged 30 and below are the highest, the scores of those aged 50 and over are the lowest, the scores of those at the associate and graduate education level are the highest, the scores of those who are primary school graduates the lowest, the scores of those who are actively engaged in sports are higher and the average scores are higher. According to the values, those who follow the sports news have higher scores. However, gender factor and income level are not the determining factors in terms of attitudes towards physical education lesson. A significant difference was found in the attitudes of the parents towards physical education lesson according to their age, education level, whether they do sports and whether they follow sports news or not, but there is no significant difference according to the gender and income level of the parents. As a result, it can be said that the children of parents who live in Hakkari, under the age of 30, have a high level of education and have a sports consciousness, have a more positive attitude towards physical education lessons and participation in sports.
