The relationship between parenting styles and preschool children'screativity levels

Aim: The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between parenting styles and creativity levels of preschool children. Material and Method: Relational scanning model will be used in this research. The sample of the research; It consisted of 243 children and their parents studying in public kindergartens in Elazığ city center in the 2024-2025 academic year. The data obtained through data collection tools were entered into the computer environment as numerical expressions and statistical analyzes were performed using the SPSS 25.0 statistical program Results: Multiple parenting styles scale" was applied to the parents of 243 children attending preschool education institutions, and "early childhood creativity scale" was applied to their teachers. The parenting styles of the parents participating in the study and the creativity levels of their children were examined in terms of demographic characteristics such as the parent's education level, age, family income, employment status, children's gender, number of siblings and age. As a result of the research, a significant difference was found between the educational status of the parents and the "positive parenting" dimension. While the creativity scale scores of children of parents aged between 18-24 and 35-44 were higher than the scores of children of parents aged 25-34, the scores of younger parents in the "positive reinforcement" dimension were higher than other parents. No significant difference was found between the family's income level, parenting styles and children's creativity levels. The mean score of nonworking parents in the "low control" sub-dimension was higher than that of working parents. No significant relationship was found between parenting styles and children's creativity levels. Conclusion: As a result of this study, it was seen that children's creativity was affected more by other variables rather than parental styles.
