Abstract (EN)

Echinococcosis is a parasitic disease frequently occurring in societies where agriculture and raising animals are common. In Turkey, it is more commonly observed in eastern and middle Anatolia and in Marmara and Trakya regions. The main clinical manifestation of cystic echinococcosis is mass where it is localized. The symptoms are related to whether the pressure of this mass or its rupture, allergic reaction and infection. In this report, 63 patients with cysticechinococcosis have been investigated according to their age, sex, localization, histopathologic examinations and diagnostic value of necrosis seen in the area which is remarked as host tissue reaction and its relationship with other parameters.Histopathologicaly eosinophilia at the host tissue to CE was more prominent than mononuclear cells, neutrophils and giant cells. Necrosis was observed mostly at liver and lung than the other locations. In this study host tissue reaction area was evaluated immunohistochemically for HLA DR DP DQ positivity in inflamatory cells and statistically significant results were determined.Further studies should be realized to reveal the pathologic mechanism and the clinical importance of the necrosis seen in the host tissue of the patients with CEKey words: Cysticechinococcosis, Echinococcus granulosus, Necrosis
