Examination of the Divan of Ecrî in terms of quotations

In this study, the divan of Ecrî, one of the eighteenth century divan poets, is analysed in terms of quotations from the Holy Qur'an. The divan analysed in this study is the only known work of Ecrî. This divan not only contains valuable information about the poet's style, but also constitutes the only source about her life and personality. The study consists of four chapters. In the first chapter, issues such as Jafarism, the love of the twelve imams and Hazrat Ali, and hurufism, which have an important place in both the life and poetry of Ecrî, a Sufi poet, were evaluated. The second chapter deals with the direct references to the Qur'ân al-Kerîm in Ecrî Divan. In the third chapter, a brief evaluation of some of the concepts mentioned in the Qur'ân al-kerîm is made in the context of the quotations made by way of allusion. In the fourth and final chapter, all verbal quotations in Ecrî's divan are identified and annotated. The method followed in the study is briefly as follows: Ecrî's entire divan was scanned, the couplets containing quotations were identified, these couplets were classified thematically or in terms of genre, and the couplets were annotated in the context of the tradition of divan literature, taking into account classical texts and commentaries.
