Popular novel perspective in the context of the sociology of the literature: Sample works of Kahraman Tazeoğlu

Literature has always affected our lives in different forms everytime. It has sometimes been a means of conveying thoughts and emotions and sometimes of political issues. When we hear the word "literature", it might evoke different meanings in our minds. In our minds different stereotyped thoughts are formed through our favourite novel, poems that we recite or listen, movies or theatres that we watch. Literature has a strong relation with the social strcture. The topics that are handled in literature are actually the reflection of the real life. The traces of the Reflectionism theory will be seen in this study. Educational sociology should not be regarded as reading the texts sociologically. Literature Sociology should not only be regarded as analysis texts sociologically. Afterwards, the importance of sociology on literature and the relationship between those two will be explained. In the frame of the development of popular novel, types of popular novel will be briefly explained and then the main focus will be text analysis of romance novels, which is one if the novel types. All types of the romance novels are long enough to be subjects of theses The aim of this thesis is not to discuss the literary value of the romance novels but to find out the sociological reflections of the author whose novels are read by large amount of people. We are aiming to search the place of the romance novels by regarding it as a social phenomenon. This thesis has been limited with works of Kahraman Tazeoglu. His works will be analysed and then the connection between his works and society will be tried to be made. In the last section of the thesis includes the interview with Kahraman Tazeoglu and the field study which is completed in th Book Fair. My main objective in this study is to understand why the members of the society act or feel the way they act or feel and to observe the social interactions and relationships among the society members in the light of literary texts.
