Abstract (EN)

This study was designed as a descriptive and cross-sectional study in the delivery room and obstetrics service of Lüleburgaz State Hospital in Kırklareli province, 01.01.2021 - 31.05.2022. In the study, the known universe sampling method was used, and the amount of Type I error was 0.05, the power impact of the test was 0.90 (α= 0.05, 1-β= 0.90) using the Raosoft program to calculate the sample number, and the minimal sample number was 139. Since there may be losses in cases, the number of people to be taken was determined as 155, assuming that there may be a loss in the sample, with a pattern effect of 1.3. At the end of the study, a total of 200 women who had 100 spontaneous vaginal deliveries (SVD) and 100 women who had a cesarean section (CS) with spinal anesthesia were reached. Data collection tools will be used Introductory Information Form prepared by the researcher in line with the literature, the Turkish Adaptation of the Optimality Index (OI-TR) and the Postpartum Comfort Scale (DSQ) in the evaluation of the optimality level. As a result of the evaluations, according to the mode of delivery, the optimality index scores of the pregnant women who ended their pregnancy with normal delivery were 88.60±5.71, the mean score from the OI was 84.02±3.12, and the mean score of the OI score was 88.60±5.71 for those who had SVD was determined as 85.40±2.98 for the group. It was determined that the mean score of those who gave CS was 92.07±3.99, the mean score of those who gave CS was 89.01±5.83 and 90.86±3.66 for those who gave CS.When the total and sub-dimension scores of the DSQ were compared according to the delivery type of the pregnant women; Although there was no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of the mean scores of WHOS (p>0.05), the mean DSQ score of the group who had a CS was 92.04± 10.57, while the score of WHO was the group who had SVD. it is seen that the mean is 89.82±11.28. In line with the data obtained, the optimality level of women decreased due to non-evidence-based practices and invasive procedures during SVD. Depending on this SVD group's total comfort score was also negatively affected. It is recommended that health personel update their evidence-based practices and knowledge, and that inpatient health institutions regulate their policies according to WHO and the Ministry of Health.
