Abstract (EN)

The perception of God includes all of a person's attitudes and thoughts about God. There are many factors affecting this. In a world where almost everything is gendered and gender is an integral part of our lives, it is aimed to investigate the effect of a gendered image of God on the perception of God. In addition, the effect of two sub-dimensions of sexism, hostile and benevolent sexism, which is a major problem today, on the perception of God was also investigated. The study was conducted with a total of 395 people over the age of 18. Participants were randomly presented with an image of a god defined by masculine and feminine adjectives formed by considering gender roles. Thus, the participants were divided into two groups and their perceptions of god and sexism were measured. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the manipulation did not work and the gender assigned to the god had no effect on the perception of god. The difference in the perception of God between the genders of the participants was also not affected by the manipulation. For both sub-dimensions of sexism, significant differences were found in god perception in both masculine god group and feminine god group. The results, contributions and limitations of the study are discussed through the literature.
