Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effects of Foot Core exercises on pain and functional performance in patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome. A total of 30 patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome including this study between March 2023 - August 2023. The patients who were randomly divided into 2 groups which is the Foot Core Exercise Group (n=15) and Control Group (n=15). All the participants did quadriceps isometric exercises in supine position twice a day, neuromuscular electrical current 20 minutes, soft tissue therapy-patellar mobilization for 4 weeks. All the volunteers were assessed in terms of VAS Questionnaire, the knee flex. and ext. ROM degrees; hip internal and external rot. ROM degrees; ankle dorsiflexion, plantarflexion, inversion and eversion ROM degrees using a goniometer and some strength tests; flexion and extension of the knee, internal and external rotation of the hip, the ankle dorsiflexion, plantarflexion, inversion and eversion, respectively. Moreover, functional performance was evaluated using the timed up and go test, 10 m. walking test, stair up and down test, Short Form Health Survey Questionnaire (SF-36), The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) before and after intervention.
