The evaluation of the relationship of education, employment and poverty in the context of the youth population

Education facilitates individuals' access to employment, providing good working conditions, vocational mobility, ease in finding a job, and high earnings. However for education to provide these benefits, it is necessary to establish the relationship between education and employment by considering the needs of the labor market. Today, the increase in the number and quota of institutions providing university education increases the labor supply of educated youth; in the same direction, it does not increase the demand in the labor market. While this situation causes some of the educated youth to work in jobs that require fewer wages and fewer skills; causes some of them to participate in employment outside the field of education and increases the risk of poverty for young people. This study aims to conduct descriptive research within the framework of poverty by focusing on the relationship between education and employment. In this context, the role of household structures, marital status, gender as well as employment and unemployment structures on youth poverty is mentioned in the field research conducted on young people with at least an associate degree. In this study, quantitative and qualitative data collection methods were used. In the quantitative data collection method, the descriptive research method was used. The research also included open-ended questions to support the quantitative data findings. In this context, the content analysis method was used in the qualitative data analysis method. In the data obtained, it has been found that some of the young people in employment experience financial deprivation, and some of them cannot reach the wages and working conditions they desire at the end of their education.
