Abstract (EN)

Performance Management is the process of gaining information about the organization?s current and future circumstances and crosschecking them in order to acquire target goals of organization and ensure the continuous improvement of performance to commence and maintain required operations. The main purpose of performance management at schools is the development of a highly performing staff and thereby a highly performing school. Performance management should be approached as a positive and supportive process. This will be achieved by creating an environment in which the potential of the employee can be maximized. Performance management is an ongoing process of identifying, evaluating and developing the work performance of staff so that the schools' strategic goals and objectives are more effectively achieved. It is a mechanism whereby all staff can benefit in terms of recognition, receiving feedback, career planning and personal development. It uses an approach of enabling and involving staff. Performance management is also designed to improve the quality of teaching, for the benefit of teachers, children and schools. It can help raise standards, increase teachers' job satisfaction and develop professionalism and expertise.
