Abstract (EN)
Root canal treatment aims disinfection of the root canals, to control infection in root canal space and to heal or prevent of pulpal and periradicular diseases. To provide disinfection, mechanical preparation of the root canals and irrigation are crucial stages of root canal treatment. During the cleaning and shaping of the root canals, mechanical instrumentation is not enough.To clean the irregular areas and isthmus that can not reach the canal instruments, remove the vital and necrotic pulp in the canal and ensure disinfection, the canals should be irrigated with irrigation solutions. During the irrigation procedure, organic and inorganic debris, microorganisms and by products can extrude to periapical area, so that post operative pain, swelling and flare-up may occur in the patient.Today, different irrigation techniques and devices are used to improve disinfection of the root canal system.The type of root canal irrigation system and the design of irrigation needles can affect the frequency and amount of debris extrusion from the apical area. There is no study has been found in the sources in the current literature that we can reach about Irriflex, which is an innovative needle design for advanced root canal irrigation and there are a limited number of studies on EndoActivator and EDDY that activate irrigation agents with sonic tips. In addition, no academic study on the amount of debris extrusion from the apical foramen of the EDDY sonic activation system, which is a new device, has been reached. In this study, we aim to contribute to the selection of the most suitable irrigation system for the clinic by comparing the amount of debris extrusion from conventional needle irrigation and 3 different irrigation systems (conventional syringes, Irrflex, EndoActivator, EDDY) with the Myers&Montgomery method.
