Özet (EN)

Health and exercise related practices are considered as the most important factor in fight against sedentary life style –named as the biggest epidemic of the 21st century-. It is thought that knowing motivations that push individuals to exercise and practices done in this sense will reduce their social physique anxiety levels and increase their quality of life. In this sense; the purpose of the study was to examine motivational arrangements in exercise and social physique anxiety levels in relation to quality of life. 402 teachers who worked in Afyonkarahisar Province during 2016-2017 volunteered to participate in the study. In the study; The Behavioral Regulation in Exercise Questionnaire (BREQ) -developed by Mullen et al. (1997) and revised by Markland and Tobin (2004) with 19 items- and Social Physique Anxiety Scale -designed by Hart et al. (1989) and Turkish validity and reliability tests of which were done by Hagger et al. (2007) with 7 items- were used as data collection forms. In order to assess individuals' quality of life; Quality of Life Scale which was developed by WHO (1998) and had 23 items and 5 subscales was used. In the study; a 5-point Likert format was used. For the data analyses; descriptive statistics, regression analysis and explanatory factor analysis were employed. Additionally; depending on the number of the variables Independent Samples T Test and One Way ANOVA for groups more than two were used. Also; to determine which group produced the difference after the variance analyses; Scheffe test was used. As a result; no significant correlation was found between behavioral regulations in exercise and quality of life; there was a negative and weak correlation between social physique anxiety and quality of life but there was a positive and moderate correlation between social physique anxiety and behavioral regulations in exercise. Besides; it may be argued that depending on the demographic variables of the participants, significant differences existed in all the three scales.
