Performance analysis of ejector outlet split dual evaporator refrigeration system

Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the performance of the dual-evaporator ejector refrigeration (DEER) system was analyzed experimentally. The DEER system was designed to operate in two different configurations. The first configuration was established and tested with diffuser/ejector outlet separation (DOS), and the second with condenser outlet separation (COS). The experiments were conducted using R134a refrigerant with varying compressor inlet pressures, condenser inlet air temperatures, and condenser inlet air velocities. Changes in performance parameters such as cooling capacity, compressor power, coefficient of performance (COP) were presented comparatively for DOS and COS operating configurations. When the obtained results were evaluated, compressor power values were found to be 9% lower on average in DOS compared to COS. Additionally, the total cooling capacity obtained in COS was 16% higher than in DOS. Comparing both operating modes in terms of COP, the value obtained in COS was calculated to be 13% lower than in DOS. It was observed that the compressor inlet pressure in the COS tends to increase as the air temperature rises. In the COS mode, the compressor power reached a maximum value of 0.70 kW as the air temperature increased. When evaluating the system based on the air velocities entering the condenser, it was determined that the compressor inlet pressures were higher in the COS configuration. Energy consumption values comparison indicated that DOS operates with lower energy consumption compared to COS. Taking all the results into consideration, it is evident that operating the dual-evaporator ejector system according to DOS allows for full refrigerant separation and effective system operation.
