Özet (EN)
Although the concept of ecology emerged in the 1800s, it began to be described as a sub-branch of biology only in the 1900s. We could say that the concept of ecology, which has ceased to be a sub-branch depending on some conditions and has been given different meanings, now has a disciplinary character. The biggest impact on the development of the concept of ecology is the ecological crisis. The ecological crisis, which was on a regional scale in the 20th century, has gradually took a global character and has become an important problem that humanity has been dealing with and occupying the global agenda in the last century.. There are many debates on the root cause of the ecological crisis. Especially with the green thought movements that started after the 1970s, global climate change and environmental problems have come to the fore. Discussions on the causes and solutions of the crisis have created the origin of many political movements. Green capitalism and ecosocialism movements, which are among these movements and can be considered as two opposite poles, constitute the main subject of this thesis.Environmental problems are considered as a market failure, and therefore it is thought that a solution that will emerge from the current capitalist system cannot really be a solution to the problem. However, green capitalism, contrary to these thoughts, argues that the solution can be within their own systems. For this reason, green capitalism offers solutions to the ecological crisis with some reformist initiatives within the capitalist system. Since ecosocialism has a radical perspective on environmentalism, it follows a completely different course from green capitalism. Ecosocialism also mentions about the necessity of abandoning the capitalist system for the exit from the ecological crisis.. The main purpose of this thesis is to present the perspectives of green capitalism and ecosocialism ideas on the ecological crisis and to discuss which view offers a more realistic and applicable solution to the ecological crisis. While making this analysis, a critical approach with an ecosocialist perspective is displayed. Keywords: Ecology, Capital Accumulation, Human-Nature Relationship, Green Capitalism, Ecosocialism, Ecological Revolution
