Economic growth, electric consumption and carbon dioxide emissions relations: The case of Turkey

Electric energy plays on important role in the development of countries. Therefore is essential to ensure that this kind of energy ise provided continuously an defficienlly to countries. In the first part the work, which is prepared for this importance, the activities in Turkey for the purpose of providing uninterrupted an defficient electric energy has been explained by seperating the process in two periods. Periods has been determined as before and after liberalization in electric energy sector. In these condpart of the study, energy, economic growth and carbondioxide emissions has been mentioned, The relationship between these three concepts is explained. In the last part of the study, empirical analysis of the relation between electric consumtion, carbondioxide emissions and economic growth of Turkey for 1960- 2017 term has been performed. For the analysis. as tool, E-Views 10 programme has been used and benefited from Granger Causality test. As a result of empirical analysis, unidirectional relation between economic growth, carbondioxide emissions and electric comsumption has been found. According to this result, an increase in electric comsumption will increase economic growth and carbondioxide emissions.
