Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to reveal the foreign trade entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial tendency in the context of economic nationalism which expresses a protective approach in terms of foreign trade policy which is one of the main components policy of economics. The study consists of two parts within the scope of this stated purpose. In the first part of the study, a conceptual assessment was made on the basis of the extent of commercial activity (international trade-foreign trade), foreign trade policy (commercial nationalism-economic nationalism) and entrepreneurship (international entrepreneurship-foreign trade entrepreneurship). Furthermore, in this section, foreign trade entrepreneurship literature is discussed in a critical perspective and touched upon the distinctive features from international entrepreneurship. The literature review on foreign trade entrepreneurship contributed to establishing a road map that guided the collection, analysis and interpretation of the data needed for the purpose of the study. The second part of the study constitutes the empirical part. The study was designed as a single case study from qualitative research designs. The sample of the study consists of foreign trade entrepreneurs who have been in foreign trade for at least 5 years and who are in the industry as a producer/manufacturer. In the study, semi-structured interview technique was used for data gathering process. Purposeful sampling technique was used in order to determine enterprises and individuals to conduct interviews. The findings of the data analysis showed that the foreign trade policy adopted by the individual is the basis of the commercial activity. The structure of commercial activity has also shown that it is the basis of the structure of the entrepreneurial activity. In this context, the findings of the study suggested that economic nationalism is the basis of foreign trade entrepreneurship and commercial nationalism is the basis of international entrepreneurship. The findings confirm that foreign trade with foreign trade entrepreneurship has emerged simultaneously with international trade with international entrepreneurship.
