Abstract (EN)
This thesis focuses on two solo violin works by Ekrem Zeki Ün, one of the prominent composers of the 20th century. It provides detailed information about the pieces titled "Tema ve Çeşitlemeler" (Theme and Variations) and "Yudumluk" written for viola/violin. The thesis includes analyses of these works, explores performance possibilities, and examines their form and musical structures. The study also presents information about the composer's life and artistic identity, including his roles as an educator, conductor, and composer. This comprehensive research aims to guide future performers who wish to interpret these works. Ekrem Zeki Ün holds a significant place in the history of Turkish music, having composed pieces that should be included in the repertoire of violinists. These works possess the potential to introduce the unique melodic structure of Turkish music to an international audience. Throughout his life, Ekrem Zeki Ün contributed to the development of contemporary Turkish music, distinguishing himself as both a composer and an educator. He consistently advanced his creativity and closely followed the changes required by his era. In this context, the two violin works analyzed in this study occupy an essential position both in the violin repertoire and among the works of classical Turkish composers. Therefore, this study aims to provide performers with new perspectives and contribute to the limited resources available in this field
