Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY THE FRICTIONLESS CONTACT PROBLEM FOR TWO ELASTIC LAYERS RESTING ON AN ELASTIC HALF-PLANE In this study, the f rictionless contact problem -for two elastic layers resting on an elastic half-plane is solved according to the theory of elasticity. For the solution, the upper elastic layer is assumed to be subjected to symmetrical distributed or concentrated load and gravity forces are considered to exist for both layers. This kind of problem is met in various civil engineering structures; such as, highways, railways, etc. The structures are made of asphal t-base-subgrade, concrete- base-subgrade or rai 1-traverse-subgrade. This study consists of five chapters. In the first chapter, general expressions of stresses and displacements are given for two-dimensional continuum by using Navier equations and integral transform technique. In the second chapter, continuous contact problem is studied with or without gravity forces. Ten linear algebraic equations are written under boundary conditions and the unknown coefficents in the expressions of the stresses and displacements are calculated from these equations. The analysis is performed for the symmetry section where the maximum values of the normal stresses occur. Singular terms which spoil the convergence of the kernel of normal stresses Keyword: Elastik zemin = Elastic ground ; Sürtünmesiz temas problemi = Frictionless contact problem
