Investigation of the causes of occupational accidents and occupational diseases in the electricity distribution sector in the center of Konya

In present study, it was aimed to investigate the main reasons of occupational accidents and also occupational diseases in the Electricity Distribution Sector and to make the business life and social life safer and healthier. During the research, during the period of November 2017-January 2018, occupational accidents and occupational diseases were questioned during the their work life. SPSS program was preferred for statistical analysis by using a questionnaire consisting of 48 questions.The questionnaire was aimplemented as a face to face interview with 118 workers. 88.1% of the respondents said that they have been working with shift system, 66.9% stated that there is occupational health and safety committee in the workplace, and 56.8% said that job supervisors are sufficient to look at Occupational Health and Safety, 50.8% vocational / technical training was adequate, 95,8% have received OHS training before starting work, 94,1% have received training on occupational accident risks related to work done, 70,3% stated that they had received training on laws and regulations related to work. As a result, it is understood that occupational accidents and occupational diseases have occurred due to inadequacy of occupational health and safety law in our country and current legislation related to this law, lack of applications, lack of binding of penal sanctions and lack of sufficient occupational health and safety culture in our country is not fully established.As a result of the data obtained, it has been determined that our employees can be made healthier and our enterprises can be made more secure. Therefore, it has been demonstrated that the environment, the materials used in the environment and the personal protective equipment used should be used more effectively in order to protect the employees and enterprises.
