Abstract (EN)

Short circuits in electrical power systems can cause serious damage to the network equipment, lines and consumer facilities. Short circuit currents can occur as a result of contact of the conductive parts under voltage with conductive parts of the earth or electrical plants which are not under tension and this situation is defined as a failure state of the system. In case of failures that occur outside of normal operating conditions in power systems, it is possible that the system will lose its stability completely as the network equipment will be subjected to excessive currents in very high times of the nominal current. For this reason, the fault location must be detected as soon as possible and isolated from the system. In order to ensure correct protection, calculations must be carried out carefully and selectivity should be ensured in the protection algorithm. In order to isolate the failures mentioned in this study from the system correctly, protection models were created in NEPLAN and MATLAB Simulink programs of Iğdır province, and the results were compared.
