Avaluations for electronic commerce and webpages: An application on managers in bus transportation sector

Developments in information technologies and the use of internet in business world has changed people?s lives dramatically. Firms?s adoption to these changes popularized concepts such as new economy, electronic commerce (e-commerce), and the use of web pages. In such a turbulent business environment, firms have to analyze and adopt to these changes and use them as strategic tools to be able to compete with their rivals and to survive. This requires managers to act faster than before and behave more carefully. In this study, our main goal is to point out managers? evaluation of e-commerce and web pages and to propese some strategic insights to use them as strategic tools when they compete. To reach this goal, besides theoretical explanations, a survey questionnaire has been developed to determine attitudes and level of knowledge of the managers of intercity bus transportation companies which have a web site. Out of total 82 bus transportation firms, which have a web site, 64 of them participated to our study. Our main findings postulate that according to our findings, the company directors who were applicated have sufficient knowledge of the issues of e trade and web pages and attach importance with the issues of these concepts. Also, these directors added their own knowledge to the design of web pages of their own company and stated that their web pages wear the general lines of characteristics of a good web page should have.
