Abstract (EN)
Critical Theory is a concept which was developed and used by the school of Frankfurt and which therefore reflects the overall approach of the school. Similarly, Culture Industry, which was improved particularly by Max Horkheimer ve Theodor Adorno, is one of the other main concepts which implies the school's overall approach as well. Targeted to a certain group of people, media is a means including written, pressed and visual texts and besides embodying such aims as entertaning and educating the public periodically or constantly, its fundemantal purpose remains to be informing itself. Critical Theory, the fundemental notions of it and the media in terms of the theory provide a basis for this study. The importance of mass media and its affects on culture industry is discussed based on the theory mentioned above. Key Words: Cultural Industry, Critical Theory, Communications, Media.
