Examination of the relationship between elite level boxers ' PRE-competition anxiety situations and sportsmanship orientation levels

The aim of this study was to search the connection between the elit ranked boxers' pre-competition anxiety state and their sportsmanship intention levels and whether it changes due to the demografic changes. The sample of the research; It consists of 100 athletes who took part in the Turkish Boxing National Team in the 2020-2021 season. In order to measure the sportsmanship level of the boxers, the Multidimensional Sportsmanship Orientations Scale (MSOS) was used. The State and Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) was used to measure anxiety states. İn the analysis of the data, frequency, percentage, Pearson Correlation, t-Test and ANOVA tests were applied and TUKEY test was used to determine the direction of significant difference. In the study findings; According to the t-test results, a significant difference was found in the "gender" variable and according to the ANOVA result, a meaningful difference was found in STAI data point according to the "sports age" variable (p<0.05). In the ANOVA test results, a significant difference was found "sports age", "degree of nationality", "education level" , "male weight" and "female weight" variables. According to the correlation test performed to evaluate the relationship between STAI and MSOS, a low negative correlation was found between anxiety level and sportsmanship orientation level. As a result; It has been determined that fairplay attitudes change according to the demographic characteristics of the athletes, and as the anxiety level before the competition increases, the level of sportsmanship orientation decreases.
