Abstract (EN)

Many manufacturing methods such as cutting, drilling, milling, polishing have been carried out to natural stones. Drilling process has been used in many applications such as boring, drilling of holes attaches of wires used wire cutting process and decoration practices. Diamond tools used for cutting natural stones, are composed of two parts such as disc body and segment matrix. The cutting process is performed when the diamond within the composite matrix scrapes the natural stone. The matrix hold to clutch the diamonds and the segment matrix are composite materials manufactured through the technique of powder metallurgy joining various metal powders. In this project, cutting performance in drilling process of natural stones with diamond tools will be investigated as experimental and statistical. An automatic gear drill machine will be used to cutting experiments. Six various natural stones (marble, andesite and travertine) and a diamond tool are considered used in the experiments. Drilling process will be done in different parameters and optimum parameter will be determined. The natural stones will be exposed to drilling process using the parameter and cutting tool performance will be determined. Lastly, regression analysis will be carried out to determine relation between results of the drilling process and physical and mechanical properties occurred from the natural stones. Keywords: Natural Stone, drilling process, diamond tool, regression analysis.2012, vii + 52 pages.
