Abstract (EN)
We aimed to evaluate the results of colposcopic biopsy, endocervical curettage and conization obtained from colposcopic examinations performed which were in our clinic according to their indications. In our study, the results of colposcopy and advanced examinations (cervical biopsy, endocervical curettage, conization) of 478 patients were examined retrospectively and compared, those patients had applied to Adıyaman University Faculty of Medicine, Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic between January 2016 and August 2020.They had underwent colposcopic evaluation due to HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) positivity or cervical cytology positivity or any of the other clinician reasons (postcoital bleeding, cervical erosion). As indication categorization, HPV positivity was accepted as the most important criterion in the development of cervical neoplasia in according to the literature. The age, age of marriage, gravida, parity, the smoking status and the use of intrauterine device of the patients included in the study were questioned. The data were classified in computer environment and the statistical analyzes were conducted with "Jamovi project (2020), Jamovi (Version 1.6.3) and JASP (Version 0.14)", and the significance level in statistical analysis was considered as 0.05 (p-value). In our study, the indications of patients who underwent colposcopic evaluation were grouped as HPV positivity, smear positivity, and other reasons. All patients similar were handled in 3 groups. In conclusion, since we found the final pathology results obtained by colposcopic procedure and advanced examination of patients with positive HPV and the final pathologies of the patients who were referred to colposcopy with only cytology result abnormality or who were referred to colposcopy due to clinical suspicion were similar, no superiority was found in terms of indications between them.We found that the Clinician's suspicion is important in cervical lesion management, since patients referred for colposcopy with clinical suspicion have similar pathology to other groups.
