Abstract (EN)

Objective: Patients who have pituitary adenoma that the demographic characteristics, laboratory values, clinical symptoms, treatment methods and response rates after treatment of patients were intended to aimed. Design,subjects and methods: 212 patients who have pituitary adenoma, consult to the Karadeniz Technical University Medical Faculty Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases outpatient clinic were investigated between 2010 and 2016. The demographic characteristics, at the time of diagnosis laboratory values and clinical features of the patients, and the treatment methods which selected were retrospectively analyzed. Results: 59.9% of the patients were female and 40.1% were male. The average age of the patients at the time of diagnosis were 42.8 years old. 62.3% of the patients had pituitary macroadenoma and 37.7% had microadenoma. Adenomas that 44.8% secrete prolactin, 19.3% secrete growth hormone, 16% are non-functional adenomas, 9.9% secrete multi hormone, 8% secrete ACTH were determined. Surgical treatment was administered to 45.8% of the patients. The transsphenoidal method was used to 94.8% of the patients as surgically. 54.7% of patients who have prolactinomas, remitter with cabergoline treatment and 9.5% of them remitter with bromocriptine treatment. Surgical treatment was needed in only 3.2%. Adenomas that secrete growth hormone as compared to administered treatment methods, 29.2% of them with surgery, 4.2% with medical treatment, 31.7% with medical and surgical treatment remitter were determined. While 70% of male patients with non-functional adenoma had macroadenoma and 62.5% of female patients had macroadenoma, all patients were operated. Cushing's disease that have 25% of male patients and have 53.8% of female patients, were detected as macroadenoma. 85.7% of patients who have macroadenoma were operated. Pituitary adenoma that produces isolated TSH and isolated FSH-LH was not detected. Conclusion: In our study, the features of pituitary adenomas were generally found similar to the literature. Early diagnosis of the disease is important in terms of treatment and response to treatment.
