The role of organizational memory in the transition process to the industry 4.0

Industry 4.0, or the fourth industrial revolution, is the general name of a process describing the digital transformation of businesses and their environment. In this process, the concepts of data and information lead to leverage impact, and the rapid change of communication infrastructure together with intense digitalization compel enterprises to involve in this process very quickly. It is inevitable for enterprises not involved in this process to lose their competitive advantages over other businesses. The Industry 4.0 process forces enterprises to undergo a certain transformation according to their sector in order to meet certain criteria. Big data concept comes at the top of the criteria that ensure this transformation. Big data is a generic name given to all incoming data from any object to central data storage systems. Often due to the size of the volume of the data is called big data. With the rapid development of technology and the effects of the industry 4.0 too, the organizational memories of the enterprises also is being transformed. This transformation will be called Organizational Memory 2.0 in this study. Thanks to this transformation, the organizational memory of the enterprises can provide the information needed by the process quickly in the fourh industrial revolution process and perhaps gives the greatest support to the transformation of the enterprises.
