DETERMINING THE NECESSITY OF IN-SERVICE EDUCATION OF THE WORKSHOP AND LABORATORY TEACHERS WHO WORK AT TECHNICAL HIGH-SCHOOLS ABSTRACT In this research* it is aimed to determine the level of the necessity for in-service training of the workshop and laboratory teachers who work at technical high-schools. Related research data is obtained from the technical high-schools those are located at the European part of Istanbul and stratified sampling method is used and applied in the research. 1 1 schools and 207 teachers have participated in the research. In the research, five option multiple-choice questionnair that is generated by the researcher is used as data garnering tool. The questionnaire form consists of two parts. 8 questions in the first part, aim to determine the demographical characteristics of the teachers; 38 questions in the second part, contain questions regarding the level of student-recognition of the Workshop and Laboratory teachers, personal and occupational development, learning and teaching cycles, information technology, special field teaching program information and application skills, classroom management, learning and progress monitoring and evaluation in order to determine the level of the necessity for in-service training. The most important necessity is for student recognition. This is followed by personal and occupational development. The necessity of in-service education of the teachers for the entire field is stated to be at an intermediate level.
