Abstract (EN)
As a solution to the storage costs of industrial wastes in tailings dams, geotextile tubes have been used successfully in many places around the world for many years as a practical dewatering tool. Wastes with high water content are dewatered and stored easily with the help of geotextile tubes and synthetic polymers. In this study, the dewatering of the waste ground of the Emet boric acid factory was studied. During the studies, dewatering experiments were carried out on the waste ground by using anionic and cationic polymers and polypropylene geotextile material. Synthetic polymers play a very effective role in dewatering performance. Effective dewatering of waste with a high water content is possible with the help of effective polymers. For the determination of the effective polymer, first of all, turbidity and precipitation tests were carried out. With turbidity and precipitation experiments, it was observed that the use of polymer accelerated the precipitation and caused an increase in the volume of the soil. Then, filtration experiment was carried out to observe the filter cake performance. After experiments with and without polymer, it was observed that the use of polymers increased the filtration efficiency up to 15000%. In the experiments carried out with layers, it was understood that the geotextile tube could be filled 6 times effectively. In the experiments carried out on filter cakes, it has been noted that the polymeric filter cake can be compressed up to 70% of its volume under 100 kPa pressure. In addition, it was determined that the filter cake with polymer was 2 times more tensile resistant than the cake without polymer under free pressure. In these experiments carried out, results confirming each other were obtained from all experiments for dewatering. Using the effective polymer at an effective dose creates efficiency-enhancing results in desalination.
