Abstract (EN)

This study examines the importance of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) in the automotive industry, its implementation process, and the benefits it provides to businesses. TPM is a maintenance management strategy used to increase equipment effectiveness, prevent breakdowns, and optimize production processes. The first section of the study explains the definition and basic principles of TPM. It emphasizes the necessity of the participation of all employees for TPM and explains key elements such as planned and preventive maintenance, small group activities, training, and skill development. The second section examines the benefits of TPM for businesses. Advantages such as increased equipment availability and efficiency, prevention of unexpected breakdowns, improvement of occupational safety, and reduction of operating costs are discussed in detail. Industrial sectors seeking to optimize processes have turned to Lean Manufacturing practices to solve various problems present in the manufacturing of different products. The design of systems and products requires an understanding of the causes that achieve desirable performance; the need for an efficient system is the main reason for implementing Lean Manufacturing strategies to improve performance. Within the scope of this study, the implementation of Lean Manufacturing focusing on optimizing the manufacturing process of a product in the automotive industry using Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is also explained. Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is used as a measure when evaluating the performance of TPM. This study also aims to determine the difference between OEE results before and after TPM implementation. Comparison between before and after TPM implementation is also carried out to observe the positive trend that TPM can bring in an industrial automotive operation. Additionally, factors to consider and potential challenges for successful TPM implementation are discussed. This study is prepared to guide businesses in the automotive industry to adopt and implement TPM to enhance performance, prevent breakdowns, and strengthen their competitive advantages.
