Stakeholder opinions in industrial heritage tourism: The Case of Türasaş devri̇m cars museum

Industrial heritage is an interdisciplinary concept within cultural heritage and tourism. The literature suggests that sustainable management of industrial heritage requires the collective efforts of relevant stakeholders. However, research on its protection and touristic utilization is scarce. This study explores stakeholders' perspectives (including tourists, tourist guides, museum employees, and residents) on the protection and use of TÜRASAŞ Museum's Devrim Automobiles. Employing an exploratory qualitative approach, the data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participatory observations, and researcher diaries, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal how the experiences of one stakeholder group can influence others, illustrating this through an original model. For instance, the strategies of tourist guides in integrating industrial heritage into tours, and the narratives they employ, significantly affect tourists' experiences and their perceived value. Similarly, museum management policies, including promotion, layout, and information provision, impact both tourists' and local residents' experiences and their transformation into perceived value."
