Abstract (EN)

The main aim of this study, high temperature α-SiAlON ceramics which are widely used in industrial and engineering application is to improve thermal shock resistance while retaining the mechanical properties. For this purpose, barium aluminosilicate (BAS) powder which have different amounts (0-10 wt%) and different compositions was added in the Y-alpha-SiAlON which has excellent microstructural features. Produced by gas pressure sintering method Y-alpha-SiAlON / BAS composite samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Vickers hardness test and indentation method is used to determine the mechanical and thermal shock resistance was examined using Anstis method. In addition, heat threatment was applied to the sample with using pressurless sintering method. The effect of heat threatment on thermal shock resistance was examined. Consequently, the Y-α-SiAlON of toughness and thermal shock resistance has been found to vary depending on the BAS composition and amount. According to the results, it was found that the greatest improvement BaO-CaO-Al2O3-B2O3 composition. Also the mechanical properties and thermal properties of glass by increasing the amount of additives have been found to be increased.
