Energy economics

There has been an increase in energy consumption in the world especially in fossil fuel use since the Industrial Revolution. Today, fossil fuels are still used as the main energy source. With the world population growing, energy demand continues to increase. The increasing need for energy shows us that fossil fuels are not enough as an energy supply. This situation has led the countries in search of new sources of energy and renewable energy sources has been raised all over the world. As it is known, environmental pollution problems through the use of fossil fuels are increasing. In case of using fossil fuels in this way, degradation of the ecological balance of nature is an inevitable end. Energy economy has become one of the main determinants of economic development policies in the world in the last century. The aim of this study is to describe how the balance should be between energy sources and consumption. In this study, we held an economic research about energy. The necessity of a proper energy policy were investigated. This study tried to present an overview of the energy economy in the world and it also tried to describe the reserve owner, producer and consumer countries that has a high percentage in energy use. The problems of non-renewable and renewable energy sources have been described and solutions to this problem have been introduced. Finally, we discuss how to manage energy resources in the world and Turkey. Shortly, these results have been obtained after this study: Non-renewable energy sources have been decreased, renewable energy sources can not be used at the desired level. Environmental problems also have been emerged during the production and consumption of energy. Management of energy resources are closely related to energy efficiency.
