Turkish regional politics in the Middle Asia and Caucasia in the concept of energy security

After the dissolution of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, many states in the Caspian Region including Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan etc. have gained their independence. Due to rich hydrocarbon reserves, the region became the focal point of global actors. Linguistic, religious, cultural ties between the region countries and Turkey led Turkey to follow an initiative foreign policy. In this thesis the regional politics between Turkey and regional countries will be analyzed in the concept of energy security. The Turkish energy politics in the region since the cold war from the view of foreign policy perspective will be studied. Turkey's energy politics, foreign policy, pipeline projects and their interaction between them will be analyzed. We study the foreign and energy relations of countries such as USA, Russian Federation, European Union, China and Iran in the context of New Great Game as well. It is anticipated that the importance of Caspian Region will increase. It is expected that Turkey will develop better relationships with the regional countries by using her historical ties and will become one of the key countries of the east - west and north - south energy corridor.
