Abstract (EN)

The increasing need for energy all over the world and the increasing environmental health problems in its use have made it vital to use energy effectively and efficiently. In this thesis study; the heating cost and energy efficiency of the buildings in the campus area of Bitlis Eren University, which was established in the Rahva campus of Bitlis Province, where winters were cold and snowy, were investigated. For this purpose, the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences located in the campus area and personnel block numbered R3 block have been selected as a sample area for energy study. A thermal camera was used to determine the suitability of the insulation materials used in the buildings, the building components where heat losses occur and a multifunctional measuring device was used to determine the indoor ambient temperatures and luminosity of the spaces. As a method, the annual heat energy requirement of the specified buildings and the amount of fuel that will meet this need are theoretically calculated and compared with the amount of fuel actually spent. As a result, the highest heat loss among the building components in the buildings is through the windows, the lowest value of the annual heat energy requirement per unit occurs in the building of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (FEAS) and the thermal insulation applied in the FEAS is at the most appropriate level compared to other educational buildings. It has been determined that the highest fuel consumption in central heating systems occurs in the coal system as the fuel type and the actual annual fuel consumption of the existing buildings exceeds the theoretical fuel consumption values by approximately 11-25%. As a result, it was concluded that natural gas is the most economical, efficient and eco-friendly fuel type for heating in the buildings.
