Abstract (EN)

Aim: "Lesion sterilization and tissue repair" (LSTR) is a non-instrumental endodontic treatment method that has shown promising results in many clinical studies. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiographic success of different antibiotic combinations used in LSTR therapy. Material and Method: 50 mandibular primary molar teeth who showed signs of irreversible pulpitis or necrosis of 43 children aged 4-10 years who applied to Inonu University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Pediatric Dentistry were included in this study. The patients were called for follow-up appointments at 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months after the treatment and evaluated clinically and radiographically. Results: Clinical, radiographic and overall successes of 3Mix-MP and alternative 3Mix-MP showed no statistically significant difference between them at 12 months follow-up. (p=1.000, p=0.612, p=1.000) When the clinical, radiographic and overall success of the 3Mix-MP group was compared according to the follow-up periods, a significant decrease was observed. (p=0.029, p=0.003, p=0.019) At the 12 months follow-up appointments, it was observed that primary first molars were less successful than primary second molars. (p=0.011) According to the obtained data, clinical success (90%) was found to be higher than radiographic success (74%) in LSTR therapy during the follow-ups. Conclusion: In our study, LSTR was found to be a successful method for non-vital pulp therapy. Similarly successful results were achieved with the widely used 3Mix-MP mixture and the Alternative 3Mix-MP mixture, which clindamycin was used instead of minocycline. The findings indicate that this alternative drug mixture can be safely used in LSTR therapy.
